Defragment

Defragment helps improve your computer’s hard drive performance. Over time, files can get broken into pieces and scattered across the drive. This can make your computer slower because it has to search for these scattered pieces. Defragmentation puts these pieces back together in one place, which makes your computer faster and more efficient. Most modern operating systems have built-in tools that can automatically or regularly perform defragmentation.

This is especially useful for traditional spinning hard drives (HDDs). However, solid-state drives (SSDs) don’t need defragmentation because they work differently. Keeping your drive defragmented helps your computer run smoothly and keeps your hardware in good shape.
